The new $38 million Latrobe Creative Precinct will become a major cultural hub within Latrobe City and throughout Gippsland

Culture

Latrobe City is a vibrant and diverse community with the capacity to host major cultural events. Construction is currently underway on the state-of-the-art $38 million Latrobe Creative Precinct, which will include a 750-seat theatre, multipurpose meeting rooms and two open-air event spaces. Expected completion for the precinct is mid-2021.

Morwell is home to one of Gippsland’s major cultural facilities, the Latrobe Regional Gallery, which displays a permanent collection of contemporary Australian art. A diverse calendar of festivals and events are enriched by some of the country’s best wineries and food producers.

There are as many cultural attractions outside the city throughout the region, such as the Gippsland Sculptural Exhibition in the small town of Yinnar, which presents an array of eye-catching artworks along the main street, the local gallery and surrounding gardens.
